CARNATION
– Step by Step Guide
1 Cut
2 Shape
3 Petal layering
4 Center
5 Flower assemble
6 Calyx
7 Stem
8 Leaf
9 Assemble
1 CUT

① Fold the tissue paper and glue the layers together using spray adhesive.
② Cut according to the template (follow the required number of pieces).
Point
The color nuance changes slightly depending on which side (smooth or textured) is inside.
Choose whichever you prefer.
2 SHAPE

① For templates 1– 4, use a shaping tool to create natural wrinkles.
② For 5 and 6, use the curved part of the tool to make rough wrinkles.
③ Gently open them and use a curved needle to create wave-like edges.
Point
Avoid making them identical. Slight variations will create a more natural look.
3 PETAL LAYERING

① Layer and glue from template 1 in order.
• 1– 4 → align directly behind each other
• 5 onward → shift slightly to the sides
• Gradually lower the glue position
② Finally, glue both sides of petals around templates 2–3 together.
Point
Aligning the bottom edges will naturally form a carnation shape.
4 CENTER

① Roll a 1.5 cm wide strip of construction paper tightly to make a cylinder (about 1 cm diameter).
② Insert a bamboo skewer from the bottom and raise it about 1.5 cm.
③ Twist white tissue paper to make stamens and attach to the tip.
Point
A green is used so it blends naturally with red petals.
5 FLOWER ASSEMBLE

① Glue the bottom of each layered petal piece and let it dry.
② Attach the top part to the tip of the center.
③ Repeat this 6 times.
Point
You can adjust between 5–7 pieces depending on balance.
6 CALYX

① Shape green clay into a cup.
Point
Use cornstarch to prevent sticking.
② Add 6 lines using a tool
③ Cut along the lines to create a jagged edge
④Use corn husks to create leaf veins.
⑤Round the bottom
⑥ Insert the bamboo skewer
⑦ Add color
7 STEM

① Sharpen the tip of the bamboo skewer
②Use clay to create the nodes
Point
Adding a little water makes it easier to shape
③ Paint the stem
• Apply green → then blue
• Blend with light green at the nodes
• Finish with a white stamp
Point
Use light green to soften the transitions
8 LEAF

① Cut following the template
② Color in this order:
green → blue → light green → white
③ Add texture using a shaping tool
④ Shape the base into a rounded form
⑤ Slightly curve using a skewer
⑥ Prepare calyx parts the same way
9 ASSEMBLE

① Insert the calyx deeply into the stem
② Attach leaves
Point
Attach leaves opposite each other, and rotate the lower pair by 90 degrees
③ Finally, attach the flower
